Cheek and Undereye Filler

Doctor-led cheek and undereye filler in Manchester, for hollows and tired-looking shadows.

Cheek and Undereye Filler

Looking rested without looking "done"

Dark circles and undereye hollows are among the most common reasons people feel they look tired when they are not. Often the cause is not a lack of sleep but anatomy: a groove where the lower eyelid meets the cheek, called the tear trough, which casts a shadow, and a midface that has lost support. Cheek and undereye filler addresses both, using hyaluronic acid to soften the transition between lid and cheek.

This is one of the most technically demanding areas in aesthetic medicine. The skin under the eye is thin, the blood supply is rich and the margin for error is small. At Evolve Aesthetics in Manchester, treatment is doctor-led, and we are candid when we feel the undereye is not the right place to start.

Why choose it

What undereye and cheek filler can help with

Softer hollows

Filler can reduce the groove under the eye so the area looks smoother and less shadowed.

Midface support

Treating the upper cheek can lift the foundation beneath the eye, often improving the result more than undereye filler alone.

A fresher appearance

Many people say the biggest change is that others comment they look rested, rather than noticing treatment.

Gentle, gradual improvement

Small amounts, built in stages, help avoid puffiness and keep the area looking natural.

Is it a good option for you?

Not every dark circle is a volume problem. Dark colour caused by pigmentation, visible blood vessels or thin skin may not improve much with filler. Puffiness caused by fat pads or fluid can sometimes look worse after filler, because adding volume to a bulge increases the bulge. For these reasons, assessment comes before treatment.

People who tend to do well have a visible hollow or tear trough groove, adequate skin thickness and realistic expectations. If you are better suited to a different option, such as skin-quality treatments, laser or a referral for surgical advice, we will say so. Being told no is part of safe care.

How the treatment works

Your doctor will assess your eyes, cheeks and midface, with you looking up, down and straight ahead. The cheek is often treated first, because restoring support there can reduce how much is needed under the eye. Photographs are taken before treatment.

A blunt-ended cannula or fine needle is used to place small amounts of a soft, suitable hyaluronic acid filler at a considered depth. Gentle massage may be used to smooth it. Many people feel pressure rather than pain. Swelling is the most common effect and can be more noticeable under the eyes than elsewhere, sometimes for several days. Bruising is also possible. Because the area is delicate, doctors often start conservatively and review at around two weeks.

Aftercare and recovery

Recovery in this area tends to be quick, but a few sensible steps improve the result.

Small lumps or a bluish tint can occasionally appear under thin skin. If you notice persistent swelling, a change in vision, severe pain or skin discolouration, contact the clinic immediately. For sudden vision changes, seek emergency care.

  • Avoid rubbing or pressing the area for at least 24 hours
  • Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first couple of nights
  • Avoid heavy exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours
  • Use a cold compress gently if advised, avoiding pressure
  • Avoid makeup over injection points for a few hours

Risks and safety considerations

Because of the vascular anatomy around the eye, undereye filler carries well-recognised risks. These include swelling, bruising, lumpiness, a bluish discolouration known as the Tyndall effect and, rarely, serious vascular complications. Choosing a clinic with medical training, a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and an emergency plan matters.

Where filler has been placed elsewhere and you are unhappy with the result, we can assess it and, where appropriate, discuss dissolving it using an ultrasound-guided approach. We keep detailed records of products and techniques, so you always know what was used.

FAQ

Cheek and Undereye Filler FAQs

When performed by a trained medical professional with a good knowledge of anatomy, it can be a safe option, but it is a higher-risk area than most. We discuss risks openly at consultation.

It depends on the cause. It works best for hollows and shadows caused by volume loss, and is less effective for pigmentation or visible blood vessels.

Many people find results last nine to twelve months or longer, as soft fillers in this area tend to break down slowly.

Filler placed carefully and in small amounts should not look puffy, but swelling in the first days is common. Overfilling is the main cause of puffiness, which is why we are conservative.

A supported cheek often lifts the area beneath the eye and means less filler is needed in the delicate undereye region.

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme. Please speak to us before attempting any removal.

Treatment starts from £350, and your final price depends on the areas and amount needed, confirmed at your consultation.
