Skin Booster Injections

Doctor-led skin booster injections in Manchester, for deeply hydrated, glowing skin.

Skin Booster Injections

Hydration from within the skin

Skin boosters are injectable treatments that deliver hydrating ingredients, most commonly non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid, into the skin itself. Unlike dermal filler, which is designed to add volume and shape, skin boosters aim to improve hydration, smoothness and glow from within. They are often chosen by people whose skin looks dull, dehydrated or tired, and who want a refreshed look rather than any visible facial change.

At Evolve Aesthetics in Manchester, skin boosters are offered as part of a personalised skin plan. Our doctors will assess your skin, discuss what you would like to improve and explain how skin boosters compare with other options such as Profhilo, Sunekos, polynucleotides and microneedling.

Why choose it

What skin boosters can help with

Deep hydration

Hyaluronic acid binds water, which can leave skin looking plumper and more supple.

Improved glow

Better hydration can help skin reflect light more evenly, creating a fresher look.

Smoother fine lines

Dehydration lines can soften as moisture levels improve, though deeper lines may need other treatment.

Natural-looking result

There is no change to facial shape, so results look like your own skin at its best.

How skin boosters work

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in the skin that holds large amounts of water. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin declines, which contributes to dryness, fine lines and a loss of bounce. Skin boosters replenish hyaluronic acid within the skin, improving hydration and, over time, supporting skin quality.

The effect is different from topical moisturisers, which mostly work at the surface. Delivering hyaluronic acid into the skin means it can influence hydration at a deeper level. Products and brands vary in their formulation and concentration, and your doctor will explain what is used in your treatment and why it suits your skin type and goals.

What happens during treatment

After consultation, your skin is cleansed and numbing cream may be applied. Using fine needles or a cannula, small amounts of product are placed at multiple points just beneath the skin surface across the treatment area, which is often the cheeks, forehead and around the eyes, though the neck and hands may also be considered.

You may feel brief stinging. Small raised bumps appear at each injection point, and they usually flatten within several hours to a day or two. Redness, tenderness or small bruises are possible. Many people return to normal activities straight away, though you may prefer to avoid events for a couple of days. Results develop over about two weeks, and a course is usually recommended for the best effect.

Aftercare and maintenance

To help your skin settle and maximise results, we recommend the following.

Skin boosters are usually delivered as a course of about three sessions, followed by maintenance treatments a few times a year, depending on your skin and goals. Your doctor will recommend a schedule that suits you and explain what to expect between sessions.

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the area for several hours
  • Skip intense exercise, saunas and hot showers for 24 hours
  • Keep makeup minimal on the day of treatment
  • Use gentle skincare and daily sunscreen
  • Stay hydrated and maintain a consistent routine

Safety and suitability

Skin boosters are generally safe when performed by trained professionals, but side effects can occur. These include swelling, bruising, lumps at injection points, tenderness and, rarely, allergic reaction or infection. Treatment is not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is active infection or inflammation in the area.

Skin boosters will not replace lost volume, lift sagging skin or erase deep wrinkles. If your main concern is structural, we may suggest dermal filler or another treatment instead, and we will explain why. Tell us about any allergies, cold sore history or autoimmune conditions. Results vary, and we do not guarantee particular outcomes.
