Ultrasound Guided Filler Dissolve

Doctor-led ultrasound guided filler dissolving in Manchester, for precise, safer correction.

Ultrasound Guided Filler Dissolve

Correcting filler with precision

Dermal filler is not always right the first time. Filler can look uneven, migrate from where it was placed, cause lumpiness, create an overfilled look or simply no longer suit your preferences. When that happens, hyaluronic acid filler can often be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. The question is where, and how much, to use.

Ultrasound guidance helps answer that. At Evolve Aesthetics in Manchester, our doctors use ultrasound to see beneath the skin, locate the filler and plan dissolving more precisely than would be possible by touch or sight alone. This reflects the clinic's wider emphasis on ultrasound-guided procedures and doctor-led care.

Why choose it

Why ultrasound guidance helps

See the filler

Ultrasound can show where filler sits, how deep it is and how much remains, rather than guessing.

More targeted dissolving

Treating the right area reduces the risk of dissolving more than necessary or missing the problem.

Safer decision-making

Imaging helps your doctor choose a safer approach, particularly near important structures.

Clear explanation

You can see what your doctor sees, which helps you understand the plan.

When filler dissolving may be needed

Common reasons include lumps or asymmetry, an overfilled or unnatural look, migration of filler, a bluish tint under thin skin and a change of mind. Dissolving is also used as an emergency treatment when filler has blocked a blood vessel, which is a rare but serious complication that needs rapid medical attention.

Not every concern needs dissolving. Some swelling and lumpiness can settle on their own in the days after filler, and it is usually sensible to wait a short time before deciding. Your doctor will assess whether you are dealing with normal healing, filler that can be dissolved or something else entirely. We see people who had filler elsewhere, and we do not judge. We focus on helping you.

What happens during treatment

After a consultation and review of your history, an ultrasound scan is used to look at the area. This often reveals the depth and spread of filler and can identify whether the product is in a pocket, in a layer or in a place you did not expect. The doctor then plans where hyaluronidase should be placed and in what amount.

The enzyme is injected using fine needles or a cannula. You may feel stinging, pressure or a burning sensation, which settles quickly. Dissolving often begins within hours to days. Because the enzyme can also affect your own natural hyaluronic acid, doctors use the smallest effective amount. A review at around two weeks allows us to check whether more is needed, and a second session is sometimes required.

Aftercare and re-treatment

After treatment, swelling and tenderness are common and generally settle within days. We suggest the following.

If you wish to have filler again, timing matters. Waiting a couple of weeks, or longer, allows the enzyme to clear and the tissues to settle. Your doctor will advise on the safest time and on whether a different technique or amount would suit you better.

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the treated area unless advised
  • Avoid intense exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours
  • Use a cold compress gently if recommended, avoiding pressure
  • Avoid further filler until the area has settled and been reviewed
  • Contact us if swelling worsens, pain increases or skin colour changes

Risks and important limitations

Hyaluronidase is generally safe, but side effects can occur, including swelling, bruising, tenderness and, uncommonly, an allergic reaction. Rarely, it can cause more significant swelling. Your doctor will ask about allergies and will have the means to manage complications.

Dissolving only works on hyaluronic acid fillers. It will not remove other types of filler, which may require a different approach, and it does not remove natural fat or tissue. Results may be partial, and several sessions can occasionally be needed. If you are unsure what product you had, bring any records and tell us where it was done. If you notice sudden severe pain, blanching, colour change or vision problems after filler anywhere, seek urgent care straight away.
