Chin Enhancement

Doctor-led chin enhancement in Manchester, for improved projection and facial balance.

Chin Enhancement

Balance your profile with a subtle chin change

The chin is a small feature with a big influence on how the whole face reads. A recessed or short chin can make the nose look more prominent and the jawline appear softer, while a well-proportioned chin can create harmony from the front and, especially, in profile. Chin enhancement uses dermal filler to add projection or length without surgery.

At Evolve Aesthetics in Manchester, a doctor will assess your profile, bite and facial proportions before recommending anything. We will often show you how small changes might look in photographs, because a few millimetres can make a meaningful difference and more is not always better.

Why choose it

What chin enhancement can help with

Better projection

Filler can bring a recessed chin forward to create a more balanced profile.

Improved proportions

A balanced chin can make the nose and lips appear more harmonious with the rest of the face.

A defined lower face

Chin support often works well alongside jawline treatment for a smoother, more sculpted line.

Reversible approach

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if required, which offers reassurance compared with permanent options.

How we assess your chin

We look at your face from the front, in profile and at an angle. Many people have a chin that is perfectly acceptable from the front but recessed from the side. We consider the relationship between the chin, lips, nose and jaw, and we use photographs to plan a realistic change.

Some chin concerns are skeletal. If a significant bite difference or a very recessed jaw is affecting your function, you may benefit from specialist orthodontic or surgical advice. Filler can improve the appearance, but it does not change bone or correct a bite. We will be honest about what filler can and cannot do for your particular anatomy.

What happens during treatment

The area is cleansed and a numbing cream may be applied. The doctor places a firm, structural hyaluronic acid filler near the bone, using a needle or cannula, in small precise amounts. Placement depth and direction are important to determine whether the chin is lengthened, projected or widened.

Most people report pressure with mild discomfort, and the treatment is usually short. The chin can look a little full at first, and swelling or tenderness can be present for a few days. Bruising is possible but typically fades quickly. Your clinician reviews symmetry carefully, and if a small adjustment is needed, it can be made at a review.

Aftercare

Chin filler is robust, but good aftercare helps the result settle smoothly. Our written aftercare normally includes the following points.

You can usually return to normal activities straight away. If you wear a face mask, hold a phone against your chin or have dental treatment planned, mention this at your appointment.

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the area for 24 hours
  • Avoid intense exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours
  • Keep your head upright for several hours after treatment
  • Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night
  • Contact us if you notice significant swelling, unusual pain or a skin colour change

Risks, safety and when filler is not the answer

As with any filler treatment, risks include swelling, bruising, lumps and asymmetry. Rarely, filler can affect blood flow to the skin, which requires urgent management. Working with a medically trained team reduces risk, and we always explain what to look out for after treatment.

Chin filler may also not be the best answer if you have a pronounced double chin caused by fat or loose skin. Adding structure in front of excess tissue may not help, and a skin-tightening or fat-reduction approach could be more suitable. Equally, if your concerns relate more to the nose, we may discuss whether a combined plan, including non-surgical rhinoplasty, would balance your profile better.

Chin Enhancement FAQs

It should look like a naturally balanced chin. We keep changes subtle and check how the result looks from the front and the side.

Many people see results for around 12 months or longer, depending on the product, the amount used and individual metabolism.

Most people describe pressure and mild discomfort. Numbing cream helps, and the treatment is quick.

Filler is not designed to remove fat or tighten loose skin. Your doctor will advise whether another treatment would be more suitable.

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if required. See our ultrasound-guided filler dissolve page for more.

Yes, and it is a popular combination. Treating both areas can give a smoother, more balanced result from the chin to the jaw angle.

Many people are happy after one session. Because a few millimetres can change a profile, we sometimes recommend building the result in two stages, with a review at around two weeks, so the chin is never overdone.

Yes. You can eat and speak as usual, although the chin may feel slightly tender or tight for a day or two. We suggest softer foods and avoiding wide yawning if the area feels sore.
