Jawline Contouring

Doctor-led jawline contouring in Manchester, for a cleaner, more defined lower face.

Jawline Contouring

A defined jawline, planned to your face

The jawline is the boundary between your face and your neck, and it quietly shapes how you look in profile and in photographs. A softer jaw can be inherited, or it can develop with age as the bone remodels and the skin loses support. Jawline contouring uses dermal filler to add structure along the jaw, sharpening definition and improving balance with the chin and cheeks.

At Evolve Aesthetics in Manchester, jawline treatment is planned by a doctor who looks at your whole face, not just the jaw. A strong jaw can look out of proportion if it is not in harmony with the rest of your features, so our approach is about refining your own structure rather than imposing an ideal.

Why choose it

What jawline contouring can do

Sharper definition

Filler placed along the angle and line of the jaw can create a cleaner edge between face and neck.

Improved profile

Defining the jaw can balance the side view, especially alongside the chin and cheeks.

Softened jowls

By supporting the jawline, filler can reduce the look of early jowling in suitable candidates.

Natural-looking structure

Firm, structural filler is placed deeply to support, rather than to create a bulky or artificial look.

Who benefits most from jawline filler

People who tend to see a good result usually have a soft or undefined jaw angle, a slightly recessed chin or early loss of support along the lower face. Some people who want a more sculpted profile choose it for aesthetic reasons alone, with no signs of ageing at all.

Jawline filler is less suitable if you have a significant amount of loose skin or fat under the chin. In that situation, adding filler can make the area look heavier. We will tell you honestly if skin tightening or another approach would suit you better, and we can plan combination treatment if that is appropriate.

How treatment is carried out

Following your consultation and photographs, the doctor marks the points along the jaw that will provide the most support. The skin is cleansed, and a numbing cream may be used. A firmer filler is usually chosen for this area because it needs to hold its structure, and it is placed with a needle or cannula in small amounts along the jawline.

During treatment you may feel pressure and some tenderness, particularly near the angle of the jaw. The doctor reviews symmetry throughout, often asking you to sit up and turn your head. Mild swelling and bruising can occur and usually settle within days. The result can look slightly fuller initially, and your clinician will advise when to review the final shape.

Aftercare and what to expect afterwards

Aftercare keeps the filler stable while it integrates with your tissue. Your clinician will provide written guidance, which usually includes the following.

Tenderness and a feeling of firmness are normal during the first days. If you notice severe pain, skin colour change or significant asymmetry, please contact us promptly.

  • Avoid massaging or applying pressure on the jaw for 24 hours
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot baths for 24 to 48 hours
  • Sleep on your back with your head slightly raised for the first night
  • Be gentle with dental work and avoid wide yawning where possible for a few days
  • Use sunscreen and gentle skincare

Safety and realistic expectations

The jawline contains important structures, including the facial artery and branches of the facial nerve, which is why knowledge of anatomy is essential. Possible effects include swelling, bruising, lumps and asymmetry. Rare but serious complications include vascular occlusion and infection. Our doctors are trained in recognising and managing these.

Filler cannot replace the effect of surgery and it cannot move bone. It can, however, create the appearance of improved structure. Results vary, and we explain what we think is achievable before you commit to anything. Where we feel a stronger contour would look disproportionate, we will say so and recommend a more subtle plan.

FAQ

Jawline Contouring FAQs

Not unless that is the goal. We shape the jawline according to your features and preferences, and a softer, more feminine contour can be planned just as easily as a stronger one.

Firmer fillers placed deeply can last 12 months or longer, although this depends on the product and on your own metabolism.

Most people tolerate it well. Expect pressure and some tenderness, especially near the angle of the jaw.

It can help in early or mild cases by supporting the lower face. More advanced skin laxity may need a different or combined approach.

No. Chin filler adds projection and shape at the front of the face, while jawline contouring defines the line along the side. They are often planned together for balance.

Little for most people. You may have swelling or bruising for a few days, so consider this before events.

Treatment starts from £300. The final price depends on the amount of filler required, which we confirm at your consultation.
