Temple Filler

Doctor-led temple filler in Manchester, restoring the soft contour of the upper face.

Temple Filler

Restoring the often-forgotten upper face

The temples sit at the edge of the face, between the eyebrow, the hairline and the cheekbone. When they lose volume, the area can look hollow, which makes the brow bone and cheekbone look more prominent and the face a little gaunt. Many people never realise the temples are involved. They simply feel their face has aged or become angular, without being able to say why.

Temple filler replaces lost volume in this region to restore a smoother outline. At Evolve Aesthetics in Manchester, it is carried out by doctors, because the temple contains important blood vessels and requires a careful, anatomy-led approach. In many cases it forms part of a wider plan for the upper face and midface.

Why choose it

What temple filler can do

Softer contour

Filling the hollow creates a gentler transition from forehead to cheek.

Balanced upper face

Restoring the temple can make the brow, eye area and cheek look more cohesive.

Less gaunt appearance

A hollowed temple often adds years. Replacing volume can soften that tired, drawn look.

Support for other treatments

It can complement cheek and brow work for a more harmonious overall result.

Understanding temple hollowing

Temple hollowing is caused by loss of fat, thinning of soft tissue and changes in the underlying bone and muscle. It becomes more common with age, but it can also occur in people who have lost weight rapidly, who are very slim or who have a naturally flat temple shape. It can also be genetic.

One way to recognise it is to look at yourself from the front: if the side of your forehead curves inward rather than flowing smoothly into your cheek, volume may be reduced. Your doctor will look at you from several angles and in different lighting before advising whether filler is suitable, and how much is appropriate.

What happens during treatment

After a medical history and photographs, the skin is cleansed. A suitable hyaluronic acid filler is selected, usually one designed to support rather than spread. Your doctor places it with a cannula or fine needle at a precise depth, using slow, controlled technique. Because the temple has a rich blood supply, the choice of depth, product and technique is particularly important.

You may feel pressure, and the area can be tender afterwards. Mild swelling is common, and it is possible to develop a headache or tenderness when chewing in the first days. The result is visible quickly, although final symmetry and softness are usually best judged after about two weeks.

Aftercare and recovery

Recovery is usually straightforward. We recommend the following.

If you develop severe pain, skin colour change, vision changes or any symptom that worries you, contact the clinic immediately. For sudden loss of vision, seek emergency medical care straight away.

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the temples for 24 hours
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours
  • Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night
  • Choose softer foods if chewing is uncomfortable for a day or two
  • Keep to gentle skincare and use sunscreen

Safety considerations

The temple region contains the superficial temporal artery and other vessels, and it is generally recognised as an area where careful technique matters. Possible effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness and lumpiness, with rare but serious complications involving blood flow. Our approach uses detailed anatomical knowledge, appropriate product selection and a plan for responding if something is not right.

Temple filler works best for volume loss. It will not lift hanging skin or change the position of the brow dramatically. We will discuss which concerns filler can address and where a different approach, for example skin tightening, may be more suitable. In some patients, a small amount of temple filler combined with cheek support gives the most natural effect.

FAQ

Temple Filler FAQs

It can be performed safely by trained professionals who understand the anatomy, but it is a higher-skill area. Our doctor-led approach is designed to reduce risk and manage any complications properly.

Many people find results last nine to twelve months or longer, depending on product, placement and metabolism.

You may feel pressure and mild discomfort. Numbing cream and local anaesthetic in some fillers help comfort.

Yes, subtly. It can soften a hollowed look and create a smoother outline. It is not designed to create dramatic change.

Not necessarily. Some people choose temple filler alone, while others combine it with cheek treatment for balance. We advise based on your anatomy.

Most people return to normal activities, though swelling, tenderness or bruising can be present for a few days.

Often, yes. Rapid weight loss can reduce facial fat and leave the temples hollow. Filler can restore some of that contour, although we will also discuss whether other areas of the face have been affected.

The aim is a result that looks like a rested version of you. Because temple changes are subtle and gradual, most people notice that you look well rather than recognising a particular treatment.

Temple filler starts from £250, with final pricing confirmed after your consultation.
